They experienced Gravitational force while throwing the ball upwards and concluded that all things in nature exert force on each other via the force of gravity. The amount of the pull depends upon the mass of the object. They felt the force of friction while playing ‘Tug of the War’, writing on note-book, erasing the board with a duster and many other hands-on activities. They enhanced their knowledge about the types of simple machines and their importance in daily life. They used recyclable and reused material to make models of simple machines viz pulley, inclined plane and lever. MATHStudents understood the Test of Divisibility of numbers and attempted to use the strategies learnt in a related worksheet. They were introduced to fraction through Jodo-Gyan kit quiz in class. Their prior-knowledge was assessed when the teacher called out a fraction and students had to assemble using the Jodo-Gyan kit. They studied the different types of fraction and learnt to identify them amongst the numbers listed. Adding and subtracting like fractions, conversions of mixed to improper fractions and vice-versa, fraction word problems were some of the things that the students are learning in this concept. SOCIAL SCIENCEPrevious knowledge of students was provoked by asking queries that helped them correlate transport with geographical landforms. This helped in engaging students through a class discussion which helped them to identify the different modes of transport used in different geographical landforms. Students learnt about the ‘National Highways’ and ‘Golden Quadrilateral’ in the class through a class discussion. Their pre-knowledge on the topic ‘Indian Rails’ and ‘Metro’ was tested by asking their experience of the journey through these modes of transport. In the class activity students learnt to make a ‘Boarding Pass’ in their notebook, they mentioned the date, time, arrival, departure, destination city etc. Students realised the importance of all the people who make commuting easy for us through interesting example. To enhance their research skills students were asked to research about famous ropeways used in our country (they were asked to research the place, distance covered, year of construction of the ropeway). Students were introduced to the meaning of ‘communication’ and its importance in our daily lives through a class discussion. They learnt to differentiate between personal communication and mass communication through examples involving newspaper, radio television, internet (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc) ROBOTICSUNIT TOPIC: ELECTRICITY Activity 1: LIGHT IT UP In this session, students explored energy and how can we use it, they also classified different types of energy in our surroundings. They also studied about the circuit and various components required to design a circuit by creating a prototype of a LED LANTERN: Appliances that lights up with electricity by designing a simple light circuit. Activity 2: CLIP IT TOGETHER In this session, students were explained about the role of a switch in a circuit and function of the switch. They also learnt conducting and insulating property of different materials by creating a switch in a circuit which can activate the light circuit. ICTThe students of grade 4 were introduced to Programming Language Scratch 2.0, which helped them understand how real world objects can be mapped into the virtual world using animation software.
