They were introduced to Decimals through a class discussion ‘quick talk’ strategy. They also watched a video to understand the difference between whole number and decimals. They learnt about place value of decimals, fraction to decimal conversion and vice-versa, addition, subtraction and multiplication of decimals. As part of the Math Science and Visual art integration week, students understood that the subjects are not stand-alone, but transdisciplinary. A whole lot of activities were planned and the students participated with enthusiasm. The students of Grade 4 had their first Parent walk-in which was showcased as an exhibition based on the subject integration week, where the confident communicators shared their learning in these three subjects. ICTStudents progressed in Scratch 2.0 and learned how to set the Sprite position and its rotation style by using it in their codes. They also created short animation on moving star, night sky and space by using these components of Scratch. They also practiced several small programs given in the ‘lab session’ of the ‘Cyber Beans’ text book. DANCEThe students learnt the basics of Indian classical (Kathak), semi-classical and western dance form. An interesting ‘Ice Cube Activity’ was conducted in the class which helped the students to experience that ice melts on heating. The ice cube was passed on from roll no. 1 to the last and back to 1. It melted after reaching back to roll no. 1. The students compared the size and shape of the ice cube and concluded that body heat melted it and changed its state from solid to liquid. A molecule arrangement tray named ‘Matter Tray’ was made by the students showcasing arrangement of the molecules in solid, liquid and gas. They learnt about various properties of water like flowing, definite volume, indefinite shape etc. ‘The Waking Water’ activity was most adored by them. They presented an amazing showcase of Science, Arts and Maths integrated activities in their Parent walk-in. Water Cycle, Wonderful Water, Matter Matters and Simple Machines Galore were all centre of attraction and well-appreciated by the parents. SOCIAL SCIENCEStudents enhanced their understanding about the important role communication plays in development of a country. They learnt how media can help in grass root development of our country, they understood how farmers are adopting the best agricultural practices with the help of programs shown on the ‘Kisan Channel’. Activity 3: TOSS THE RING In this session, students were explained about safety measures need to be taken while working with electricity. The working of the open and closed circuits was demonstrated. They learnt that an electric circuit requires a complete loop of conducting materials through which electric energy can be transferred. They designed a ring toss game, specifically to focus on their ability to describe and identify open and closed circuits. DRAMAStudents learnt about sound, moment, appearance, body moments and voice modulation as per the character. Drama game ‘The Splat’ was introduced.
